At last, onto the final work! Among two A3 size pieces, one of it will be from classical music, and another is from contemporary music. After much contemplating and indecisiveness, I finally chose the two most favorite and impressionable songs that I like!
First up is the contemporary music.

"Pepper Steak" by Mortis Ghost.

This song is actually a battle theme for a pixel rpg game for the pc called off. Some serious surreal intense and stimulating vibes are given off by this song. To compliment that, I used intense dark purple and contrasting black and light grey as the theme for this whole piece.
The coarse, grainy texture pictures the radio-ish, retro quality of the song. The black marks are like the melody for the song, especially the four black squares at the bottom, which is the four loud beats near the end! The eye-catching grey strips are the highlights of the song at 0:34, ans also recurring at further parts of the song during the chorus. As for the black dots at the bottom right, it represents the song slowing down at the end.
If you like this song, you can check out other songs by Mortis ghost for the same game! My
other favorite is Brain Plague! :D

"Gymnopedie No1" by Erik Satie

Erik Satie's style is quite dreamy and has this surreal-ish kind of feeling. Especially with this first gymnopedie! I used a light yellow and light turquoise to make this relaxing light wash which resembles a sky. The light yellow at the beginning is like the sweet, beautiful opening melody.
I also added nice spontaneous watercolour textures, and also using a paper doily to make prints and stencils.I figured that the doily can create this dreamy yet classy feeling which this song has. Going down the piece, the colour also gradually darkens into a deeper blue, with darker patterns and textures, ties in with the song that progresses into a minor key near the end. From there, the song gets more melancholy towards the finish. The grey ink marbling does the trick in capturing that moment as well.
During the process of these two pieces, I was playing the two song on repeat! I find that I worked faster on Pepper Steak. My brush and tools were moving in sync with the songs. Similar to jotting notes for a class, I moved swiftly to capture the impressionable parts of the song, and visualized in onto the paper. For Satie's piece, I find myseld relaxed and more calmed down by the song, I liked how it turned out light and fluffy which really suited the song.
All in all, this project was quite accomplishing to complete since it made music more tangible and physical. I find pieces like this rather charming, because every stroke, every mark has a reason behind it. They were all inspired by sound and melody which eventually visualizes the entire song. All of this can enrich our sensitivity to design, and beautify our perception of music.
