I used a ton of symbolism in the video. I wonder if you'll able to spot them all! I'll try to go in order of appearance and explain them one by one.

The protagonist has a round head at first, which was symbolising flexibility and creativity. The surroundings were in many bright colours, mainly in red, and the protagonist also was in red. I used red because it was striking and symbolising passion, fury. It would make the protagonist seem to be someone who would not sit still if it was commandeered by the protagonist. The buildings in the background were made asymmetrically to show flexibility and uniqueness again.

Much was left ambiguous about the antagonist to make a more mysterious feel. But, visibly the strings from the antoginist was all in black, a rather ominous colour. It was used to contrast the ones with the protagonist, which was red.

The antagonist grabbed away the protagonist and tore it in half. Much like shaping students to fit the system without any regard to the student itself. Moving onto the next clip with the falling petals. The falling petals literally symbolized shedding away your passion (red), like how people set away hobbies to make time for tuition and school. Finally, the red head falls, and is replaced by the square head. The original questioning, flexible nature of students are replaced to 'squareness' after restrictiveness of school.

Now, I'm sure that you are very curious of what the heck is sequar and do run. Well, their anagrams of the word square and round. Curiously and uncannily, sequar means to follow in Latin. Exactly fitting. Conformity, blindly following the system. That names the choice that the protagonist and the others made in that clip. They become uniform, repeating the same work again and again, only for the work to escape at the end. It signifies that the work done is void of meaning, all the same, no individuality. However, in the next clip is do run, which is pretty much self explanatory. Run from the system, break away! Though, there's something else to add. The static glitch effect actually symbolizes rebellion. To sort of 'break' the system. That's what glitches sort of are right?

Finally, the protagonist escape into a place with a wide blue sky, birds chirping as if celebrating its freedom. Finally, he fully breaks away and returns to its truest form, with its own red string returning. Free at last. Meaning that you are only truly free when you can express your own thoughts and ideas honestly.

The final scene is shot in the real world, where some people have boxes for heads just like in those who chose 'sequar'. Those who conform. Lastly, the words 'Are you' appears, making the audience question weather have they chose 'sequar'. Miss Fu did suggest adding one last shot where everyone had boxes for heads, but there were many reasons why it couldn't happen. I tried! First of all, I didn't have the resources to shoot so many people, and if it was only a single still image, it would ruin the flow since the rest of everything were videos. Also, my editing skills were amateur level at best, so yeah.

So, there it was, my video all laid in its barest form, completely decoded! Did you manage to guess? However you are free to interpret it in anyway you want. After all, following everything I say blindly is to choose 'sequar', isn't it?
