Q1: Sketch and Exploration

Finally, we have reached the end of the semester, so let's make it end with a bang! Each student is to come up with their own monogram, which is a logo made up with two alphabets or more. The alphabets have to be from our initials, in order to make the items more personal.

My initials are A and L, which immediately gives me ideas. Perhaps I could connect the base of the L with the bridge of the A?

All six of my exploration sketches are here. 98% of it was done with a brush pen as I like the feel of it. The thickness of lines can be controlled easily, and fine lines could also be achieved. Many of it were very spontaneous, and were inspired by objects around me.Like scissors, leaves, hands, water. Some of it is also combined with my surname in Chinese, which is 吕. For this beginning point, I didn't put much thought into anything yet, just coming up with as many diverse varieties first as a base to start on. Afterwards, I will pick out the favorites and start developing them.

I really had no idea that I could come up with so many logos for myself just like that.This is extremely different from what I usually do, and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. As expected of the final assignment, this was the most interesting one so far, in terms of discovering and expanding my own abilities.
