Yet another assignment that requires performance! Great, haha looks like I have to go through performing on stage, which I do not like. Oh well, I'll give it my all nonetheless.
There's a lot I want to talk about. Less about the outcome of the project, but about the problem I encountered. For the outcome, you may check out the blogs of my other teammates.
During the making and thinking process of this project, we faced TONS of problems, and I'm so glad that we managed to overcome it. Whew, never wanna go through that again!
Problem 1: Teammates.
This is the biggest problem and a huge headache. I had the 3 most inactive students as my team members. By some twist of fate, all of them ended up in my team. Great. At first, the more active members and I tried to stay positive, but they proved to be inactive, except one of them which was Aishah. We immediately took action by shedding light on this matter to the lecturer. He told us to give them a chance and observe their performance.
One of the two members would show up for meetings, but will stay quiet the entire time he's there, saying NOTHING at all. We tried to prompt him to give some ideas, but he just shrugged and continued on. The only time he opened his mouth to say something, was when he wanted to excuse himself. The whole team was ready to remove him from the group.
The other guy wouldn't show up at all. He always had something to do. ALWAYS. He won't mention what, though.
The team was contemplating whether to get him out of the team or not, since if he did get removed, he was pretty much done for. So, we decided to give a (yet another) last chance to him, since he said he wold try. But surprise, surprise! Guess who didn't show up for most of the other practice! He was removed from the team at last, and finally I can be relieved from the worry that my team members would bail on me last minute.
Problem 2: Dry ice
I was in charge of getting the dry ice for the effects for the performance, but I wasn't too worried about it since I got contacts from the other team. They got dry ice from the place they recommended to me last time. So, my mom drove me over to a gas factory in Puchong. When I arrived there, they told me that I had to make bookings a few day in advance if I wanted dry ice since they don't have ready stocks. GREAT. Apparently my friends didn't encounter this problem the last time. Sooo, I desperately called every number that appeared in google after I searched "dry ice near me". Apparently none of them had. Finally, I found an obscure Facebook post with a number. I had to travel all the way to KL, and got an earful from my mom along the way. Thank God for that.
Problem 3: "Sorry, I forgot! I was in a hurry."
On the day before the performance, I messaged all team members to bring all props to school and store it there for dress rehearsals and in case someone forgot to bring it tomorrow. Well, someone forgot to bring their really important props, but said she would bring it the next day. Okay, fine. But guess what? She forgot to bring it the nest day too! Wow, great.I knew things were going TOO smoothly. So, we used some stuff from the drawing room to replace it, although not perfect.
So, that's it for my rant! I'm glad that I managed to overcome this safely. Glad that's over.At the end of the day, teamwork is just not my thing. There are too many uncontrollable factors for my comfort. These assignments are so random and weird, I don't know how the lecturers thought of it.
