Today, Mr Choy explained about how modernism was about society, culture and economy. Artists started to paint more on daily life rather than extravagant scenes just for the rich. What I think really was good is the fact that art became more free and creative. Artists could paint more relaxed day-to-day scenes, and not just the rigid fancy scenes to decorate the homes of the rich. I believe it that this era promoted more creativity, flexibility and self-expression. When I watched videos on Youtube about explaining modernism, I could only retain very little knowledge from them, and most of the content went over my head, unfortunately. Mr Choy's explanation was still the best in helping me wrap my head around this concept. So, I did some digging on my own, and I found and modernist artist that I quite like. He is called Egon Schiele. I like how he uses bold colours which makes his art look very expressive. Only in such an era, that amazing artists like him can flourish.
