Week 4: Talk about Post-Modernism!

The most memorable thing about this lecturer, was the meaning and motive behind the post-modernist art movement. Artists wanted to criticise and poke fun at sensitive situations. This led to many outrageous works such as the urinal sculpture, the tinned feces and the motionless lady. What was intriguing was the deeper meaning behind these installations. Marina Abramović stood still for 6 hours, and allowed anyone to do anything to her with the items she left on the table. She would go home hurt and crying at the end of the day,and feel grateful for even being alive. It forcibly reveals the darker side of humanity, where people usually want to keep hidden. Essentially, this is the heart of post-modernism which attracted me very much. I hope that one day I will inject that much meaning into my own works. It will add much more depth into it, and attract people to ponder about it,and linger in their heads for a long time.
